Tamworth is the home of Australia's largest Music Festival. The annual 'Country Music Festival' is held in January each year and is the largest music festival in the Southern hemisphere and is one of the top 10 in the world! The variety of not only country music (jazz, blues and dixie) is endless during the festival with over 800 performers and 4,000 shows across 120 different venues. There are over 600 buskers in Peel Street alone, providing a diverse range of entertainment each day – it’s no wonder we attract over 55,000 visitors!
The AELEC (Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre) is the most unique livestock events complex in Australia and is a state of the art facility. It conducts a myriad of event types including: Showjumping, Bull Riding, Hacking, Dressage, Rodeo, Camp-drafting, Team Penning, Cutting, Alpacas and Dog shows along with National Cattle and Horse sales.
The Tamworth Regional Sporting Complex is an area in South Tamworth that consists of the Sports Dome and synthetic Hockey Fields which attract local, regional and State sporting events. A new world class $5 million dollar cycling complex is also being planned.
Tamworth Marsupial Park and Adventure Playground- THERE aren’t too many places where you can interact with kangaroos or have a peacock stroll past your picnic lunch, but one of those places is in the heart of Tamworth and open 364 days a year.
